amanda woodhouse – Professional Counsellor

she/her

Hi, my name is Amanda Woodhouse. I am a professional, qualified counsellor and supervisor with a BA (Honours) Degree in Counselling Studies, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision. I have also attended various training days over the last eleven years.

As a professional counsellor & supervisor, I am a registered member of The British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP), which means I adhere to their comprehensive ethical framework.

Client Focus

I offer counselling to people aged 14 years and upward and have a wide range of experience working with mental health and emotional issues, including anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, and loss and many more

Background

My counselling experience includes counselling for the NHS, a health and social care organisation in Grimsby, and for 10 years, I counselled students at a local school, college, and university. I have also counselled privately since 2018, which I find tremendously rewarding. I feel honoured and privileged when clients share their worries and concerns, trusting me to work with them on finding solutions.

Therapy Approach

As a Person-Centred counsellor, I work non-judgmentally and empathically, enabling clients to talk freely and confidentially about any issues or concerns they are having, no matter how big or small. I listen and accept my clients for who they are, which often helps them to accept themselves and embark on a journey of self-exploration. However, as every client is different, I also integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness into my practice to suit individual needs.

If you would like an appointment or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone or email, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Therapies explained

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a treatment focusing on changing negative patterns of thought and behavior to address psychological issues. It is known for its effectiveness in treating a variety of mental health conditions.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic Therapy focuses on individual potential and stresses the importance of growth and self-actualization.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy uses a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solutions.
