Welcome – I’m Andy Williams, a senior psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with many years’ experience supporting people through life’s toughest moments. I help individuals and couples make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface, understand how past patterns shape the present, and build the confidence to move forward with purpose. Integrity sits at the heart of my work: I’ll meet you with respect, honesty and genuine collaboration as we explore the change you’re seeking.
Personal Touch
What draws me to this work is a deep fascination with how people grow, heal and connect — even when life has knocked them sideways. I’ve spent years training and supporting other therapists because I believe we all deserve a space where we’re truly listened to. Outside the therapy room, you’ll usually find me enjoying nature, tending to the garden, or getting curious about how our relationship with the wider world shapes our wellbeing. Those moments remind me why I do what I do: people thrive when they feel rooted, supported and understood.
Client Focus
I work with a wide range of clients, and I’m particularly experienced in supporting men who may find it difficult to ask for help but are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or under pressure to hold everything together. Many people come to me because work has become unmanageable — whether that’s burnout, conflict, performance worries, or the impact of bullying and organisational change on wellbeing. I’m committed to inclusion and work respectfully with diverse identities and backgrounds, including those navigating sexuality, gender, cultural expectations or feeling they don’t quite “fit the mould”. Whatever brings someone through the door, my aim is the same: to offer a grounded, confidential space where they can talk openly, make sense of what’s happening and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Background
With over twenty years in full-time clinical practice, I’ve worked across private practice, the NHS and university wellbeing settings, supporting people with complex mental health presentations and supervising multidisciplinary teams. Alongside my psychotherapy work, I lead a UKCP-accredited psychotherapy training organisation, shape professional standards across the sector, and continue to contribute through research, teaching and conference presentations.
Therapy Approach
My approach is integrative and tailored — I bring together Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and psychodynamic thinking to meet each client where they are. TA helps us understand the patterns and roles we fall into, and how early relationships live on in the present. CBT offers practical tools to challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviours when life feels chaotic or anxiety takes hold. My psychodynamic and relational training means I take time to explore deeper themes and the emotional roots of distress, including trauma and shame. Where helpful, I also incorporate ACT and compassion-focused ideas to support those who are highly self-critical. This blend allows me to work at both pace and depth — helping you gain insight, make lasting changes, and build a more grounded relationship with yourself and others.
