Eva Vass – Professional Counsellor

she/her

I would like to offer you safe and confidential “walk and talk” sessions in Bracknell if that's near enough to where you are based and also if you are interested in this kind of therapy. We would walk at your pace or sit on a bench, connect with nature and explore the issue that you have brought. I am also happy to see you online if that's what you prefer.

My hope is that in our sessions you could experience a sense of release as well as gain a deeper understanding of yourself that could lead to your current issues to ease.

I work with a gentle, client-led approach, I draw upon the person-centred and the psychodynamic methods mostly. I think exploring past events, traumas, bringing core beliefs from the subconscious mind to the conscious level are extremely helpful first steps in understanding patterns and joining the dots that can be followed by working on these underlying issues to bring on real, lasting change.

My goal is to develop a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to open up and share your thoughts and feelings. I believe that feeling heard and understood is a big part of the healing process.

Personal Touch

I used to be a teacher but realized that I would much rather listen to the children's personal stories and issues they struggle with rather than teach them language skills. The ones that could not focus in class usually had some mental health issues that I felt the urge to help them with. This is what inspired me to start my counselling training.

Client Focus

I only work with individual adult clients with low or medium level of anxiety and/or depression, relationship issues, loss and grief, low self esteem and on how to understand themselves at a deeper level, including their values, core beliefs and any issues that are underlying their sense of self and decision-making possibly without their awareness.

Background

I am a pre-dominantly person-centred counsellor. For me this is not only a counselling approach but a way of being. Responding from a deeper level of empathy, where I sense the unspoken, implicit feelings, thoughts and agenda; listening to understand and not to respond and being fully present for the client. The most important part of the therapy is the relationship between me and the client that I aim to be a healthy one with clear boundaries, built on mutual respect and true connection. As an integrative counsellor I can draw upon other approaches as well, such as psychodynamics, when we leave the “here and now” and explore the client’s life events, attachment styles or focus on what thoughts and feelings might come from their subconscious mind. The client leads the sessions, my style is non-directive and we will never leave the “person-centred nest” we are sitting in together building a person to person genuine relationship.

I have a level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling. I am an individual member of  and I abide by their Code of Ethics. I have attended several workshops and courses on:                                -trauma informed therapy, somatic therapy, relationships, anxiety, depression

Therapy Approach

I work pre-dominantly with the person-centred and the psychodynamics approach. My sessions are led by the clients, however I assist their own exploration with questions, insights and guidance, if necessary. I believe exploring past experiences, traumas and the unconscious, biassed, implicit content of the mind and soul are very important parts of the healing journey.
