Vik Dudley – Counsellor Therapist

they/them

I am a person-centred counsellor, which means that I believe you know
best what you need. I will offer you a safe place, support, and
acceptance for you to explore your struggles. I believe that with
non-judgemental care, people naturally move towards self improvement.
Even if youre not entirely sure what the problem is or how to fix it, together
we can explore it and, hopefully, find your path through it.

I work one-on-one, both face-to-face and online. I offer as many
sessions as you need, providing you with a place to explore your
problems, without judgement.

Personal Touch

I am white, working-class, neurodivergent, queer and ethically non-monogamous. I am non-binary and use they/them pronouns. While I want to appear professional, I am also unashamedly myself; I have an undercut, dyed hair, facial piercings and tattoos. I have a BA in Japanese Studies and before I become a counsellor, I was a freelance illustrator. I spend my free time playing video games and TTRPGs with my friends.

Client Focus

I have experience working with LGBTQ+ people, particularly trans people. If you’re unsure about your gender and would like space to explore that, I can support you as you figure out who you are—even if you decide you’re happy with what you started with! I am also experienced in working with neurodiverse people, especially autistic people and ADHDers. So don’t be worried about what flavour of neurodiversity you have, I’ll do my best to accommodate your unique brain when we work together. I have lived experience with ethical non-monogamy (aka: polyamory), so if relationship troubles are bothering you, I can support you through that while not pathologising your relationship structure.

Background

I have a Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have conducted over 300 hours of sessions, helping a wide variety of clients. I have training in trauma-informed therapy for victims of domestic violence. I also have received training for conducting online sessions.
My focus is on trans and non-binary identities, ethical non-monogamy, and neurodivergence. I also have experience working with survivors of domestic violence, and more general issues such as anxiety, depression and low mood. I have both professional and personal experience with my specialities, which helps me better understand where you're coming from.

Therapy Approach

I work in a person-centred way – this means that I recognise that you are the expert on your experiences. I offer you a place to explore yourself safely, without judgement. My job is to support you so you can find your own way, and find your own solutions to your problems. I’m committed to helping you figure out what you need, together.

Therapies explained

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy uses a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solutions.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, emphasizes a non-directive, empathetic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process.
