she/her
Does your mind feel like it never switches off? You might find yourself caught in constant chatter, replaying conversations, or worrying about what others think. You’re not alone in feeling exhausted from trying to hold it all together.
I’m a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist offering a calm, compassionate space to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will explore the patterns that drive your worry, self-criticism, or anxiety. In our sessions, we will typically:
- Identify the thoughts that contribute to your anxiety.
- Examine the impact of these thoughts on your behaviour.
- Develop strategies for more balanced thinking.
- Work towards self-compassion and understanding.
- Create a personalised plan to manage your concerns.
Things can change for the better.
Personal Touch
I have over 25 years of experience in the social care sector, where I have supported individuals during times of crisis, trauma, and addiction issues. My professional background informs my approach to counselling. Additionally, I am a mother of two neurodivergent adult daughters, one with ADHD and the other with autism spectrum traits. This personal experience deepens my empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by both individuals and their families.
In our sessions, we will typically:
- Explore your unique experiences and feelings.
- Discuss strategies for coping with challenges.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for open dialogue.
- Work collaboratively towards your personal goals.
- Emphasise understanding and acceptance of diverse experiences.
Client Focus
I work primarily with adults and young people over 18 years, as well as older adults over 65 years. My aim is to create a supportive environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns. I understand that each individual has unique experiences and challenges.
Background
I have completed a SCOTACS Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork, specialising in a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach. This training has provided me with valuable skills to assist clients effectively.
I am committed to providing a warm and understanding space for you to navigate your challenges.
Therapy Approach
I mainly use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support clients in understanding the interplay between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. This method encourages self-reflection and insight, enabling individuals to identify patterns that may be affecting well-being.
