Michael O'Halloran – Counsellor Therapist

he/him

If you’ve found your way to this page, then you’ve probably been through hard things. Maybe you cope on the outside but feel stuck inside. I help people who overthink, shut down, avoid, or constantly second‑guess themselves to find clarity, calm, and practical change.

You might be feeling anxious, depressed, and wondering how you can carry on. If that’s you, I want you to know: you don’t have to stay in that place forever. After six sessions of counselling, you will begin to notice sleep improving, you will have clarity in decision‑making and be able to set boundaries in life and work.

I work with adults at every stage of life seeking practical change and deeper self‑understanding. I offer a brave, stable and creative place to explore both past and present life patterns.

Personal Touch

My name is Michael and I grew up in the West of Ireland. I’ve lived in England for more than 30 years.

I am a practical, compassionate, and collaborative counsellor in Durham and Newcastle. I help people who usually function well but feel anxious, stuck, or disconnected, to integrate inner parts, strengthen will, and reconnect with meaning in their lives.

I know how difficult it can be to need help, never mind find the courage to ask. When I have, I’ve been lucky to find skilled, encouraging, honest counsellors to support me. I now have a real passion and desire to help people life to their full potential. We have been through tough times, and we only have one life. Let’s life it, as best as we can.

Client Focus

Some areas I work with are, but not limited to:
anxiety, depression, relationships, suicidal thoughts, life goals

Background

I am a counsellor trained in psychosynthesis, a humanistic, integrative approach that includes a spiritual dimension.  This means I attend to the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — when supporting personal development.  I create a space where a more integrated, authentic sense of self and purpose can be fostered.
I hold a MA in Psychology and Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling

Therapy Approach

My role is to help you understand what’s actually driving the patterns in your life. Then I will show you the tools, support, and structure to change the patterns. This will reduce both your anxiety and depression, giving you reasons and motivation to carry on.

I don’t just sit and listen. I’ll reflect things you might not see yet. We work together to come up with what works for you and tailor the therapy to your needs.

Therapy explained

Psychosynthesis

Psychosynthesis is an approach that aims to integrate different aspects of a person’s personality into a cohesive whole, emphasizing personal growth and self-realization.

Client Feedback

Thank you again, Michael, for the past year of therapy. It has been invaluable and has given me the foundation I need to continue growing, learning, and investing in myself. With your guidance, I have gained a much clearer insight into myself. For the first time in my life, I feel at peace.
