Paul Cleland – Counsellor Therapist

“I feel lost… I don’t have the answers.” — That’s alright. We can start right there. Together, we’ll take gentle steps toward clarity and relief. There’s space here for uncertainty, for curiosity, for growth. Caring support for anxiety, depression & feeling stuck.

Personal Touch

Hi I'm Paul. I spent many years trying to understand myself and make sense of the world around me. After a good deal of struggle and travelling, I realised that I had it all within me the whole time, and this helps me to recognise it in others too. I also have children and an energetic Jack Russell that remind me that we all have nearly unlimited potential to exist any way we want.

Client Focus

I focus on working with adults who are experiencing various emotional and psychological challenges. My practice is centred on creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their feelings and experiences.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Discuss your feelings of depression and anxiety

  • Explore emotional overwhelm and its impact on your life

  • Address feelings of 'stuckness' and how to move forward

  • Work through loneliness and its effects on your well-being

  • Process grief and loss in a compassionate manner

I strive to help clients understand their emotions and find pathways to healing. If you resonate with these issues, I may be the right fit for you.

Background

I have been counselling for over 10 years and hold a level 4 diploma in integrative therapy. My approach integrates various therapeutic techniques, allowing me to tailor my work to each client's needs. I focus on somatic work, which helps clients connect with their bodily sensations and emotions. Additionally, I am informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), which supports understanding and healing of internal conflicts.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Explore your feelings and experiences through somatic awareness.

  • Use IFS techniques to identify and work with different aspects of yourself.

  • Create a safe space for open dialogue and self-exploration.

  • Develop coping strategies that resonate with you.

  • Work collaboratively to support your personal growth.

I aim to provide a warm and supportive environment for all my clients.

Therapy Approach

In my practice, I employ a humanistic approach, integrating somatic experiencing and Internal Family Systems (IFS). This combination allows for a natural alignment to unfold during our sessions.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Explore your emotions and experiences in a safe, supportive environment.

  • Engage in somatic techniques to connect with your body and its sensations.

  • Use IFS to understand and integrate different parts of yourself.

  • Focus on personal growth and self-discovery.

  • Work collaboratively to identify and address your unique needs.

My aim is to support you on your journey towards healing and self-awareness.

Testimonials

Client Feedback

Paul is very good at asking questions, that create valuable insights. Additionally he is very good at listening (in a non judgemental way) and kind as well.

Paul is a mix of sensitivity and understanding of everyday problems. He's certainly helped me to feel better about the major relationships in my life.

These sessions have helped me to see how my thoughts are messing up my life. I'm finally in a position to take control of things.

Paul was my first-ever therapist, and I really enjoyed our conversations together. He adapted to my needs and taught me to deal with whatever issues arose. His ability to remember every detail I tell him is uncanny, but very much appreciated. I have enjoyed this journey and would very much recommend Paul.
