Giulia Cavazza – Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT)

Sometimes we can feel stuck or overwhelmed, and making sense of how we feel can be difficult. I offer a warm, supportive space to help children, young people, and adults understand their thoughts and emotions. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with a trauma-informed lens. I also integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) when working with traumatic memories.  I work with people who are experiencing: panic attacks, social anxiety, or health anxiety, PTSD and OCD. I have supported individuals in school and hospital settings. I work in a neuro affirmative way.

Personal Touch

I believe that people's differences in how they think, learn, process and perceive information should be accepted and nurtured. I create a non judgmental environment where the person can thrive. I don't just work with the child but with the family around them. I am happy to liaise with schools or other agencies.

Client Focus

I work with adults, children and young people. I work in a neuroaffirmative way, offering adaptations to promote a safe environment.

Background

I have worked in many different settings since I qualified in 2020.
As a CBT therapist I have offered support to survivors of domestic abuse, working with personality disorders, anxiety and low mood, using a trauma informed approach. I have also worked in school settings with students struggling to attend school, engage with the curriculum due to anxiety, low mood or OCD traits. I routinely liaised with staff and parents offering ways to understand and adjust to the need of the child. More recently I have focused on supporting children and young people with acute and chronic health conditions, holding families in mind, through their hospital journey. I have done this at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
