Emily Fiddian – Psychotherapist

n/a

Change is possible. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or a sense that life is not as full or satisfying as you would like it to be. Coming into therapy can feel daunting, but it can also be a positive and deeply valuable step. I offer a warm, supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly, feel heard and understood, and begin to explore what is troubling you at your own pace. My approach is rooted in the belief that each person has the capacity to grow, heal and reach their potential. Together, we can look at your relationship with yourself and others, deepen your self-awareness, and support you in finding new ways to live with greater choice, confidence and authenticity.

Personal Touch

My personal journey has significantly shaped my approach as a counsellor. As a young adult, I faced high levels of anxiety and recurring depression. After years of being on and off anti-depressants, I discovered talking therapy. Within six months of starting therapy, I was able to come off the medication for good.

This positive experience inspired me to train as a therapist myself. I want to help others find the same relief and understanding I did.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Explore your feelings and experiences in a safe space.

  • Work collaboratively to identify your goals.

  • Develop coping strategies tailored to your needs.

  • Encourage self-reflection and personal growth.

  • Foster a supportive and empathetic environment.

I believe in the power of connection and understanding, and I am here to support you on your journey.

Client Focus

I work with a diverse range of clients, including both individuals and couples. My practice focuses on helping those who experience anxiety, depression, or a general sense that something isn't quite right in their lives. I aim to create a warm and supportive environment where we can explore these feelings together.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Discuss your specific concerns and experiences.

  • Explore underlying issues & patterns contributing to your feelings.

  • Develop strategies to enhance your well-being.

  • Create a safe space for open dialogue and reflection.

I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change, and I am here to support you on that journey.

Background

I bring a unique blend of experience to my practice. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an employment lawyer for a legal charity and qualified as a barrister. This background informs my understanding of complex human issues.

My training includes a rigorous seven-year programme at Spectrum Therapy Centre, where I specialised in humanistic integrative therapy with a focus on the Gestalt approach. Additionally, I have trained in attachment-informed EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.

  • Use Gestalt techniques to enhance self-awareness.

  • Incorporate EMDR and IFS methods as needed.

  • Focus on your personal growth and healing.

I aim to provide a supportive space for your journey towards well-being.
