Kate Wiggs – Psychotherapist

she/her

I am an experienced therapist, working clinically since 2013. My passion lies in all varieties of relationship work, especially those in alternative structures such as ethical non-monogamy (ENM) and polyamory. I identify as an LGBTQ+ ally and welcome clients from all backgrounds.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Explore the dynamics of your relationships

  • Address miscommunications and misunderstandings

  • Work towards fostering deeper connections

  • Create strategies for effective communication

  • Support your journey towards positive change

If you are tired of miscommunications in your intimate connections and are committed to change, I am here to be your straight-talking cheerleader.

Meet Kate: Your Supportive Psychotherapist

Personal Touch

I love all forms of art, especially live music and visual art. Walking by water never fails to bring life back into balance.

Client Focus

I specialise in working with couples and individuals who believe in the potential for a deep connection in their most intimate relationships. My approach is warm and supportive, encouraging clients to take responsibility for their role in emotionally mature relating.

Background

Psychodynamically trained, member of HCPC and British Association of Art Therapists.

Working in prisons, schools, hospice and rehab facilities has given me an expanded capacity for the range of human experiences. And taught me that everyone is doing their best, however it might look on the outside.

Therapy Approach

My therapeutic approach is very client-led. We begin where you feel most comfortable, focusing on your priorities and what causes you the most pain. In our initial sessions, I will listen attentively to understand your needs. Through gentle, clarifying questions, I will offer reflections based on what I hear.

In our sessions, we will typically:

  • Explore your experiences and feelings in a safe environment.

  • Identify your priorities and areas of concern.

  • Work together to navigate your tender places with care.

  • Build trust, allowing healing to occur organically.

  • Adjust our approach based on what resonates with you.

As we continue, we will keep trying different methods until we find what works best for you, always at your pace. I believe we are all experts in our own lives, and together we can uncover insights that lead to healing.

Testimonials

Client Feedback

Kate is really skilled at what she does. I did not know what to expect working with her, I just knew that I wanted her attention on some specific things. What I received was beyond that, Kate has an exceptional skill in creating a welcoming space. She created the exact conditions that had me feel relaxed enough to talk about things I’ve never discussed with anyone else. And then so much poured out I thought it might never stop. She stayed with me through all of it. Cannot recommend her enough.
